About Bridgetown

Bridgetown is the capital city of the beautiful island of Barbados. This city has 110,000 inhabitants which is over one third of the population. Bridgetown got its name over 300 years ago when the 1st inhabitants the Amerindians left a bridge over the river mouth which was then discovered by the Europeans.

Bridgetown hosts the 3rd oldest Parliament building in the British Commonwealth dating back to 1639. Bridgetown is the location of the oldest known statue of Horatio Nelson, which predates the one in London Trafalgar Square by nearly 30 years & it is also larger.
